Share
The full Abyss Eye set is revealed. Pokémon TCG's fourth Japanese Mega Evolution set drops May 22, 2026, and with all 81 main set cards now public, we have the complete picture a week before launch.
Three Mega Evolution Pokémon ex
Three Megas headline the set:
- Mega Darkrai ex (046/081) — Darkness type and the chase. Its Abyss Eye attack instantly knocks out any Active Pokémon affected by a Special Condition. Pair it with the new Dark Bell item to lock in conditions turn after turn.
- Mega Chandelure ex (036/081) — Psychic type, newly revealed in this wave of card drops.
- Mega Excadrill ex (063/081) — Metal type.
Five Non-Mega Pokémon ex
The supporting cast:
- Lurantis ex (004/081)
- Wailord ex (015/081)
- Tapu Koko ex (026/081)
- Rampardos ex (043/081)
- Morpeko ex (053/081)
New Mechanic: Shadow Energy
Shadow Energy shields Benched Darkness Pokémon from all damage. That's a real engine piece, protecting your backline while you set up Mega Darkrai's KO chain. Bolt Lightning Energy also debuts in the set.
Fossil Sub-Theme
Three new fossil cards play together:
- Skull Fossil (item)
- Armor Fossil (item)
- Fossil Dig Site (Stadium)
Rampardos ex is the headline payoff from the fossil package.
Supporters and Items Worth Watching
- Misty's Energy (Supporter)
- Gladion's Determination (Supporter)
- Faba's Underling (Supporter)
- Gwynn (Supporter)
- Regret Bomb (item)
- Retry Badge (item)
First Secret Rares Revealed
Two Special Art Rare (SAR) cards have been shown so far, and both deliver:
Mega Chandelure ex (113/081 SAR) — HP 350, Psychic type. Its Cursed Flame ability adds one Energy to the opponent's Active retreat cost while Mega Chandelure is in play, and its Phantom Maze attack hits for 130+ damage, scaling at 50 more per Energy attached to the opponent's Active. Illustration by REND, with rainbow holo treatment over a swirling violet shadow scene.

Gwynn (117/081 SAR) — a Supporter card that lets you discard up to two Pokémon from your hand (no rule-box Pokémon), then draw three cards for each one discarded. Illustration by Naoki Saito, full-art trainer treatment with the same rainbow holo background style.

Set Configuration
- 81 cards in the main set
- Roughly 35-40 secret rares expected on top, matching prior Mega Evolution sets
- Booster box: 30 packs, 5 cards per pack
- ¥200 RRP per pack in Japan
