Look Closer at This Charmander Card
GIDORA's Charmander illustration shows up in two of the most popular recent sets: Pokémon 151 and Paldean Fates (PAF 007). The kind of card most people barely register when they crack a pack. Except for one thing in the background that, once you see it, you cannot unsee.
Look at the Grass
The shape falling across the field behind Charmander is a Charizard. Wings spread, tail flame, mid-flight. Drawn into the shadow the way it would actually land if a real Charizard were hovering just above the frame. Whether GIDORA placed it there on purpose or it is one of those happy accidents that lands too perfectly to feel accidental, the result is the same. A Common card hiding a dragon in plain sight. If you have a copy from either set, the shadow is on yours.
Why Stuff Like This Matters
The Pokémon TCG has a long tradition of illustrators slipping something extra into card backgrounds. A distant Pokémon peeking from the treeline. A reflection telling a second story. A shadow shaped like the next stage in the line. These small details are why collectors keep going back to cards they have owned for years and still find new things. A Common does not have to be a Secret Rare to be worth a closer look.
If this is your first time seeing it or your hundredth, the effect lands the same way. Pull your copy and find the shadow. Give GIDORA their flowers either way.
